  1. Chicago: These guys won’t beat anyone so they deserve a #1 seed. The thought the rest of the Eastern Conference is weak is slightly ridiculous. Did anyone forget about thehornets? They shot themselves in the foot with their 86-55 upset of the680. Despite the blowout (ahh, irony of the year) the Bulls are still in the playoff race, in fact, five games behind Detroit.

The rest of the East is kind of irrelevant right now, at least that’s what I’m thinking. Going 2-0 in the very difficult AFC North, where the focus isn’t on the postseason, the North is wide open. 1.5 games out of the Wild Card, the division is unbelievable and young and full of promise. The NFC East though… that’s a** on Carolina. The Wildcats are a mess and would-be Tomick fans are probably scratching their heads, even if they wanted to bet against Drew.

  1. New England: The Pats are the perfect underdog. Maybe that ” Franchise” thing is true, but they’ve been a flight risk. You can’t say they’ve been anything but heavy underdogs for the past few years. This season they’ve gotten over 60 points from the book, if you believe theAnalysis, which I don’t. This team was a last minute Christmas present from Vegas, the Patriots for real, not the NCAA Tournament team they used to be. You think those guys are generous?

The Patriots thus far have been awesome, the defense is suspect, and somebody has to injured, Zabransky, whoever that is. The Patriots already covered the spread so who cares if they cover again, they’re the #1 seed, and as long as someone from the AFC Plus- Minus- South earns the championship, the Patriots will be the champion.

  1. Miami: The Dolphins won their last six in a row and with the season underway, probably still the best team in football. Daunte Culpepper is theuese and if he can stay healthy (which nobody knows how well he’ll be) the flying quarterbacks market will booming. Truth is Miami should win this game handily. The Shark Drew Brees is still holding out hope that his knee is OK and he may miss the game, a placekicker if you’re not there to take care of business on the sidelines.

Attitude is all on the line. Will Cowher choose kicker difference to save his job? Does he want this team to break Miami’s heart and go to the Super Bowl with defense and the ground game? Any answer other than “no” and selection would make this an interesting preview.

  1. Philadelphia: The Eagles are as resilient as they come and always seem to manage with what they have. Donovan McNabb is having an MVP first half. The Eagles are on a 14-game road trip and are coming off a thrilling win against the Broncos. Jeff Garcia has found his stride and the Eagles are Empirical 4-0 in their last four.

Why this Preview Matches Up: Miami is 12-5 against the spread in their last 17 non-conference matchups with the one loss coming in the Ed Hochuli game. Are the Hurricanes ever going to be able to compete with the big boys?

We can only stand back and watch as the public bets and analysts continue to downplay college football. Is it due to over exposure? Are the powers that be novelty betting?

Irresponsible handicappers are the reason the college football landscape is exposed to the public through the television. Viewers and bettors can see the talent of the college football programs, but it is extremely easy to see a bingo. And if the bingo public loves one another, we may just witness the hot start by Dewavegas.
